L.A Stories

A mixed media original by Steve Rawlings 2025

Hand cut collage, spray paint, acrylic and varnish

Artwork size 80cm x 80cm

Framed size 85cm x 85cm

The artwork continues Steve’s fascination with film and the Hollywood/American Dream. Film icons from the golden age, through to the 60’s,70’s jostle with pop symbolism of the period creating an alternate landscape of Hollywood and LA. Vintage film posters, magazine pages and photographs are torn, disrupted and reassembled to offer a glimpse into the fractured beauty and bleakness of entertainment’s most important city. Playing against the beauty and vivacity of American pop iconography is this ripped, torn and worn-out  version … both sides of the Los Angeles coin.
